Bingo in Norway Bingo started to become popular in Norway in the 1960s. During that time, bingo halls began to pop up around the country, but mostly in and around Oslo, the country's capital. While the game does not share the same fame it does in English-speaking countries, it still has a loyal following. It is also one of the few ways to legally gamble in Norway that is not controlled by the state monopoly.
Norsk Bingo AS controls the most bingo halls in Norway, with 30 halls across the country. They are in the process of installing 2000 special touch-screen bingo kiosks that were designed by Parlay Entertainment, a company that makes online gambling software. The kiosks will let Norwegian players enjoy bingo games with players across Europe. The new high-tech kiosks will use special ID cards that use radio frequencies.
Online Bingo in Norway Internet bingo in Norway is limited. Norsk Tipping, which runs one of Norway's three legal online gambling sites, offers a game called Extra on their website. Extra is a Bingo-like game which lets players pick their own numbers for their bingo card. An offline version is also available from Norsk Tipping retailers.
True Norwegian internet bingo is hard to come by. The only places where players can properly play online bingo are foreign sites, but the government of Norway banned the use of foreign online gambling sites in late 2008. However, the ban will be difficult to enforce, so players in Norway wanting to enjoy online bingo games will still have options.
