Bingo in Hungary
Bingo is definitely not a big deal in Hungary. There was a time many years ago when Bingo salons could be found scattered here and there, but that time is past, and Hungarians today turn to lotto or machines for their gambling needs. There is a chance, however, that it will make a comeback, and one company in particular is counting on it.

As of January 2009. a private Hungarian company is finalizing plans to open Budapest's first new bingo hall in Budapest's Árkád mall. The hall will be associated with a restaurant and will provide regular games. The state gambling monopoly Szerencsejáték is involved in the operation, though only so far as licensing and regulation. As with all gambling venues in Hungary, the government will own a majority portion of the new Bingo hall. Nobody is sure how it will do, but the mall is a popular one, so it could well be the beginning of a bingo boom in Hungary.

Online Bingo in Hungary
The lack of Bingo, coupled with strict rules governing online gambling, means there are no Hungarian bingo halls on the internet. Hungarians can play online bingo at international sites that accept them, but they must look for alternative banking methods, because all banks in Hungary, as of 2006, are not allowed to process transactions to and from online gambling websites. Until the EU's drive to break up Hungary's gambling monopoly, the choices for Hungarian internet bingo will remain limited.
