Bingo in Germany
Bingo is not nearly as popular in Germany as it is in some other Euorpean countries. The game has its roots in Italy, and it found its way to Germany in the early 19th century, but the game took on a very different role for Germans than it did in other areas. Instead of being played for fun or for money, bingo in Germany was played to learn.

School children would use special bingo cards as a fun way to study and learn anything from maths and spelling to history and science. Bingo held this role in Germany for many years, and it wasn't until the 1930s that the games was played by adults as a diversion. It did not last long, however, and the game did not get much attention until recent decades. Still, it has not really caught on, and bingo halls in Germany are a rare site.

Online Bingo in Germany
Given the questionable legal status of online gambling in Germany, and the general lack of interest in bingo, it is not surprising that there are no German internet bingo halls. The EU has been putting pressure on the German government to open up to the world of online gambling, but even if this happens, it's not certain that German bingo sites will appear online.
