Bingo in Finland
All gambling in Finland is controlled by a group of three government-run bodies. Bingo falls under the jurisdiction of RAY across most of Finland, but in the Åland Islands, PAF controls bingo. In both areas, it is illegal to play bingo for cash prizes or any other profit. In fact, all gambling in Finland must be non-profit, and proceeds must go to helping the people of Finland.

The laws are therefore very strict. Only domestic companies can offer bingo, and the game can only be played for charity purposes. Also, a license must be obtained from the government before the game can even be offered. Because of all these restrictions, bingo has not had a chance to become popular in Finland.

Online Bingo in Finland
Online bingo is different. While it is also controlled by RAY and PAF, there is a large gambling website offering Finnish internet bingo legally. This PAF-owned website offers both single and multi-player 90 ball bingo in several variations. PAF caters to all of Finland even though they only control gambling in the Åland Islands. This has frustrated RAY, but the Finnish government continues to allow it.

Finns may play online bingo at foreign sites, but the government discourages it. The EU is pushing hard to force Finland to break open their gambling monopoly. Since online gambling in Finland is legal, this could open up the industry to foreign bingo and other internet gaming sites. The future might bring more Finnish online bingo games, but for now, the PAF website is the best way to play.
